AMD bringing their A-game

It’s not just games stealing the show at E3 this year. We all knew AMD’s 3rd Generation processors were on the horizon, but earlier today we got a few more (rather exciting) details outlined to us.

“When is winning performance important? For gamers, it’s the moment when you can’t spare a millisecond of lag. For streamers, it’s when you deliver uncompromised quality to your audience. For creators, it’s when you’re killing it to meet the deadline. No matter when you need it, 3rd Gen Ryzen™ Processors will deliver. Because this advanced desktop processor doesn’t just perform. AMD Ryzen™ is designed to win.”

The star of the show? The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, “The World’s first 16-core gaming CPU”, a 16 Core 32 Thread monster with a base clock speed of 3.5GHz and can be pushed up to 4.7GHz.

Although NZ pricing isn’t available yet, I’d say we’d be looking at around the $1200 mark – plus the cost of a new X570 motherboard to make the most of it.
